  Christmas Decorations at the Kingdom hall

  i can't remember if i've told this story before .... but back in the day, in irlam congregation (northwest england, uk, cheshire #1 circuit i think) we used to rent a kingdom hall for many years before we eventually built our own.. preston hall.

  ah, the memories .... it was primarily used as a community hall for old folks, but we had it friday night and sunday morning.. there was a loft and fold-out ladder and we used to store the chairs up their.

  every meeting, there would be an assembly line of all the "lads" to pass the chairs down and set them up, then collect them up and pass them back up at the end of the meeting.

  Back in the 1950's we met in a room attached to the local Public Library. This was similarly rented out to various other groups and clubs who put up Christmas decorations every year. It was in the days when the "Chart" was hung in KH's and it was so funny to see this surrounded by all the Christmas glitter.

  The letters that JW's write have to be hand written, this means that it takes about an hour to write four letters compared with dozens or even hundreds per hour with a word processor. It doesn't do any good whatever, it just keeps the R&F busy and able to count time in the process.

  I have just put "Anthony Morris" in the search in jw org and all manner of videos of and about him are displayed. He has of course been deleted from the list of GB members.

  i have from a very reliable source that he attends one of the poughkeepsie ny congregations.

  i think there are 5 congregations there might be worth paying a visit if anyone lives near there..

  i remember our was tuesday, thursdays and saturdays.

  in reality it's crazy they hade so many meetings.

  In Sarf London we say "All mouth and no trousers"☺️

  Not being in London, Sarf or otherwise, we tend to say "All fur coat and no knickers!"
  

  In answer to the question however, I am sad to say yes, I was regular at all the meetings. Tuesday evening group study plus an hour D2D prior to that during the summer. Thursday evening M/S and S/M. Saturday morning D2D, Sunday morning D2D, afternoon P/T and W/T.

  Talk about a waste of a life.

  Nisan 14 or not?

  if jesus memorial meal is meant to follow on from the jewish passover celebration, would someone explain to me why the jehovah's witness community are holding their "lord's evening meal" on tuesday 4th april; when the jewish community are not holding their 2023 passover until the 5th april 2023?

  doesn't this mean that the jehovahs have got their date wrong?.

  JW's calculate Nisan 14 to be 14 days from when they estimate the crescent of the said new moon will be visible over Jerusalem. Needless to say they are often wrong. A few years ago they said the new moon would NOT be visible on this particular day but in fact it was clearly visible both in Jerusalem and also the UK.

  The Jews calculate Passover to be on Nisan 15 which they calculate as 14 days from the astronomical new moon which is why Passover almost always coincides with the full moon and the JW Memorial usually does not. This year the full moon is about 06:30 tomorrow (Thursday) but still on Nisan 15.

  The Israelites left Egypt on the morning after the Passover, it was still Nisan 14 of course by JW reckoning. In view this I asked an elder to explain the meaning of Numbers 33:3. He told me I think too much which is not good!

  For anyone interested it's worth drawing out a timeline of events for Nisan 14/15 bearing in mind the crazy explanation for "between the two evenings". Then ask how long it would take you to kill a sheep, bleed it, skin and gut it and then roast it whole over an open fire. I've never tried it but extrapolating from the time it takes Sis England to cook a leg of lamb in a modern insulated fan oven.........

  How to send Memorial greetings?

  i have a friend who is a witness, and i wanted to send them a message on tuesday, but i'm not entirely sure what to say.

  "happy memorial" doesn't seem quite right.

  what are some appropriate greetings to send on the day of the memorial of jesus christ?.

  Why is it Tuesday the 4th instead of Friday the 7th ("Good Friday," when may other Christian denominations commemorate the death of Christ)?

  Easter is a "Moveable Feast" so it will always fall on Good Friday and Easter Sunday. There is a readily available formula to calculate this.

  As explained above JW's Memorial is calculated similarly to the Passover in most years.

  Is it possible to come off being anointed and be other sheep and still be an Bethel elder?

  As I understand it if an anointed one is disfellowshipped and later reinstated they do not become one of the other sheep. They remain as anointed, there is no "second prize".

  This situation arose years ago with an anointed sister who fell away and disassociated for many years. Then her son died tragically and she came back to the meetings and resumed D2D etc. At the first Memorial she did not partake but apparently the CO had words with her as above and she resumed partaking until her death.

  As regards AMIII I have never heard a single comment about him in the congregation so I assume no one knows/cares about the situation.
